What you'll do
The finance assistant is entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities across the Corporate Finance department, along with assisting the Group Financial Controller (GFC). The role will allow the candidate to understand the various steps of the financial and management reporting of the company. In this role, you will:
- Promote and safeguard the Corporate Finance function; ensure a positive, consistent and accurate representation of Dorchester Collection finance discipline
- Cost control: assisting the GFC with monthly analysis of Dorchester Collection departments: Operations, IT, Finance, Technical Services and Sales and Marketing
- Manage finance systems to control corporate office travel and other expenses
- Review actual expenses versus budget and produce commentary – follow up on other Dorchester Collection expenses: utilities, employee meals, fixed charges
- Assist with the banking function, including bank reconciliations and payment transfers
- Process invoices and payment batches
- Various ad hoc tasks, including financial analysis and modelling, filing, preparing auditor’s queries documentation, etc.
- Assisting with the budget process with Dorchester Collection departments – setting up files, producing comments to assist Heads of Departments to analyse their expenses, and assisting the GFC to calculate the budget for the company
- Communicating and reconciling corporate office recharges and supporting documentation
- Calculating and reconciling hotel and residence management fees
The items shared are the essence of a day in the life of a finance assistant, but we’ll make sure you are provided with specifics on how we care for our hotel
The hours of operation for this role are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm. The role is based in our corporate office in Knightsbridge, with a work from home day on Mondays.
What you'll bring
Essential Skills
- You have advanced computer skills in MS Excel (Visual Basic and/or overall strong Excel expertise)
- You have previous experience in data visualisation and presentation through MS PowerPoint
- You have previous experience in accounting software (Dynamics Great Plains, Sage, SAP, Business Central)
- You have excellent analysis skills (including Financial Modelling)
- Communication is what keeps our departments running perfectly. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You have presented to senior stakeholders and can comfortably present with credibility and confidence
- You are able to demonstrate commercial awareness and business acumen
- You have good attention to detail, and have problem solving skills
- You are able to manage multiple complex projects and assignments and meet short deadlines
Desirable Skills
- French and Italian an advantage but not a requirement for the role.
