As an employee, you are expected to provide our guests with a bespoke and memorable experience measured to the highest standards of quality and service delivery. Additionally the execution of your position will be in accordance to our company policies, standards and procedures. 
  

The Pool Attendant works effectively as part of the service team of the Pool. Primarily responsible for, but not limited to, fulfilling all guest’s service needs according to Hotel Bel-Air standards.

* The Pool Season will start from April 1st  and close September 30th.

Directly supervised by In Room Dining Manager & Assistant Manager, Pool Supervisor

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

Professional appearance, confident demeanor, positive attitude, engaging personality, humility, integrity and abide by the principles, goals and policies in Hotel Bel-Air Pledge. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including weekends & holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel. 


OPERATIONS:

  • Know and build relationship with all In-House guests and Spa Members
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients and quality standards, taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, garnish and method of presentation.
  • Follow schedule, side work, and station assignments
  • Set up & break down  Pool bar, Sun lounges and Host desk daily.
  • Service details:
    • Check in guests upon arrival and assist guests setting up sun lounges i.e. towels, umbrellas, sun block etc.
    • Take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and hourly pool side amenities.
    • Service pace in delivering food & beverage from bar to guest’s table & to insure food quality and presentation
  • Execute table-side presentation (steak tartar, etc.)
  • Respond to guest requests
  • Cash Handling & Accountability
  • Problem solving / Troubleshooting & communicating with MOD as needed
  • Thorough conversational knowledge of hotel history and statistics.
  • Strict adherence to uniform & grooming standards

Ability to stand for long periods (more than 8 hours).

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat & cold.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications and Desirables

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATIONAL AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
High School or General Education Diploma (GED). Previous Pool Service experience preferred. Bartending experience and cocktail knowledge preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and requisitions. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Primary quality detailed service ethic.
The ability to subordinate one’s personal agenda in favor of working collaboratively with the team to achieve departmental goals 
Ability to apply commons sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
