Position Overview

The primary function of the Bus person is to facilitate food service. clean tables, carry dirty dishes, replace soiled table linens; set tables; replenish supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes; supply service bar with food, and serve water, butter, and coffee to patrons.  Provide quality service to ensure positive results reflected in DC core standards, AAA, Forbes standard results and guest Gallup feedback.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

Individual needs to have a professional appearance and warm, accommodating confident, enthusiastic, motivating personality and abide by the principles, goals and policies in The Beverly Hills Hotel  Pledge. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


  • Highest standard of food product, sanitation, storage, and handling procedures
  • Technical culinary food quality, nutritional and portion control standards.
  • Food product and service; guest relations standards.
  • Follow all policies and procedures noted in employee manual.


  • Follow up assigned daily employee shift side work.Assist to properly stocked working area to par level
  • Daily review of in house VIP guest list
  • Maintain corridor and landings free of trays/tables
  • Monitor pick/up requests and follow up within established procedures
  • Monitor delivery log sheet and follow up with retrieving of trays/tables within department standard procedures
  • Sort out retrieved condiments and equipment and properly stored
  • Assist with amenity delivery.
  • Assist servers when delivering tables to bungalows with stairs
  • Maintain working area clean and organized

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell.  The employee frequently is required to stand.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 60 pounds when bringing up and down loaded Room Service tables when serving bungalows with stairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications and Desirables


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two-year technical room service experience in world class luxury hotel/resort


Fluent bi-lingual operational vocabulary would be an asset.

Fluent English written and conversational vocabulary to include:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to clearly and effectively speak with guests taking orders and before groups of employees of organization.


  • Absolute quality detailed and service ethic
  • Strong interpersonal staff and guest relations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
