Position Overview

The primary function of the Guest Room Care Technician is to maintain the facilities, in particular the Guest Rooms, equipment, plants and services of the hotel in impeccable condition at all times.The ability to work as a team member on projects as well as individually on assigned areas of the hotel. Provide quality service to ensure positive results reflected in AAA, Forbes standard results and guest comment cards.

Individual needs to have a professional appearance and warm, accommodating confident, enthusiastic, motivating personality and abide by the principles, goals and policies in The Beverly Hills Hotel  Pledge. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  •  The ability to satisfactorily communicate with: guests, management and co-workers to their fullest understanding.  Be fluent in both written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Be knowledgeable of all aspects of the Hotel and Bungalow guest rooms.
    Knowledgeable of equipment and all support features to include but not limited to: the T.V, DVD, VCR, Blue Ray, Stereo, Peripheral guest equipment, Doors, HVAC Units and Thermostat, Guest Room Plumbing, Snake and Drain Equipment, Electrical work including; switches, outlets, and lighting, In Room Electronics, Cosmetic work, patching, sanding painting and furniture touch ups, Grout/Caulking, Knowledge of and location of Electrical, Gas and water shut offs to name a few.
  • Ability to perform the duties as outlined in the “Daily Responsibility” document.
  • The ability to respond to guest room calls and have the knowledge to make the repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to follow instruction both verbally and in writing.
  • Know Fire Life Safety procedures, shut off valves, fire control panel, stairwells etc.. Must respond to all emergency calls and be able to assist immediately in helping to remedy the situation
  • Ability to follow up with guest, managers, and fellow associates regarding the status / progress of the work you are engaged in for them.
  • Ability to accurately fill out your tracking sheet, room call sheet, make legible entries in the log book and fill out inspection sheets and turn them in at the end of your shift. Also noting and tools, supplies materials, or training you may require to continue to produce exceptional work.
  • Have the ability to retain what you have learned and apply it to the job at hand.
  • Be ability to troubleshoot problems, equipment and evaluate situations and arrive at the most efficient way to resolve the challenge before you.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to but not limited to the following: standing, sitting, squatting, climbing, and walking.  Vision is a key element, close vision, distance vision, clarity and color vision are very important. There can be a lot of up close intricate work. A full range of motion is also required; there will be times when crawling, bending, twisting, reaching, working with hands over your head will be needed. There will be pulling and pushing involved of tools and or equipment. There is a need for hand strength, gripping tools, pulling wire, securing ropes etc. Balance and agility are also important. Working on a ladder is also a requirement. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The proper lifting techniques are to be used and proper equipment to be employed.


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.  To include hot days, cold days, rainy days, day hours, mid-day hours and at night time. You can be exposed to dust, fumes, odors, moisture, fluids, cleaner’s solvents, paints. Use the properly approved safety apparatus when you find yourself in these conditions. You will get dirty, there are jump suites and additional uniforms for that reason. You can be exposed to noise uncomfortable noise levels to include:  hammering, pounding, grinding, sanding, scraping, loud equipment of hand tools. If you find yourself in these conditions use the approved safety equipment.

Qualifications and Desirables

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A two year degree or Technical Certificate related to field, or equivalent.  Five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Be ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Have the ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.  Must have or be working towards gaining the basic knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits and wiring, HVAC and hydraulics.  Must have the ability to read and interpret blue prints and wiring diagrams.
