Position Overview

The primary function of the Food & Beverage Sever works effectively as part of the service team of the Cabana Café, Fountain Coffee Shop, Bar 1912 & Polo Lounge . Primarily responsible for, but not limited to, the proper delivery of food from the kitchen to the guest and assisting with overall service to the guest.  Provide quality service to ensure positive results reflected in DC core standards, AAA, Forbes standard results and guest Gallup feedback.



Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

Individual needs to have a professional appearance and warm, accommodating confident, enthusiastic, motivating personality and abide by the principles, goals and policies in The Beverly Hills Hotel Pledge.  Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  •  Clear, clean and set-up tables, chairs, linens, and flatware for service in an unobtrusive manner; greet guests, provide water, bread and butter service according to The Beverly Hills Hotel Standards to ensure superior service.
  • Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.
  • Stock linens, flatware, and food items for service; assist in preparation of smaller items such as toast, condiments, or beverages.
  • Describe the selection of food & beverage menu items to guests by offering interesting and vivid descriptions of each item’s origin, taste, and preparation methods; communicate guest orders including any special needs or requests to the kitchen using the hotel’s point-of-sales system; coordinate food timings; check completed kitchen orders with the guest’s original order; transport items to the guest table in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality.
  • Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer knowledgeable suggestions; respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.
  • Properly and accurately close guest checks; process cash and credit card payments; properly settle voided checks or complimentary meals. Other restaurant tasks as required by management or leadership.
  • Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, recook orders, and product availability.
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
  • Record transaction in MICROS system at time of order 

Qualifications and Desirables


EDUCATIONAL AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

High school education; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 

AVAILABILITY: Due to nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel including:

Flexibility for AM & PM shifts

 

Employees may be required to cross train in various departments for overall understanding of the operations in order to provide ultimate guest experience. Able to work at Cabana Café, Fountain Coffee Shop, Bar 1912 & Polo Lounge.
