Position Overview

The primary function and responsibility of the Account Receivable Clerk  is to processing to secure payment of all tendered guest/customer/employee accounts.  Respond in the best interest of the hotel to every internal and external guest inquiry and/or request. Assist in resolving questions of internal and external customers regarding billing. Ancillary responsibilities as assigned by the Assist Controller can include cross-training in other positions.  Provide quality service to ensure positive results reflected in  AAA, Forbes standard results and guest comment cards.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

Individual needs to have a professional appearance and warm, accommodating confident, enthusiastic, motivating personality and abide by the principles, goals and policies in The Beverly Hills Hotel  Pledge. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Dorchester Collection
  • Standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Comply at all times with Dorchester Collection Standards, policies and procedures of the Beverly Hills Pledge
  • Process all tendered, departed, or outstanding balance accounts to credit card or A/R City Ledger.
  • Handle any problems with city ledger accounts, guest complaints, charge backs or any problem that may arise during the course of the day.
  • Post all charges and allowances that are brought to their desk by other areas of the hotel.
  • At the end of the day perform daily transaction audit and A/R save.
  • Answer all incoming calls to A/R and assist internal and external customers.
  • Mail hotel billing and/or statements to responsible party in a timely manner.  Assist responsible party in further inquiry to ensure timely payment.
  • Tender certain defined accounts monthly to ensure correct Revenue Vs. Expense matching.
  • Maintain support for all open receivable balances.  Prepare reconciliations on demand.
  • Maintain in an orderly manner records of all sales and receivable activity for a period of at least seven years.
  • Assist and Aid in enforcing hotel credit policies.
  • Special Projects as needed.


Position requires to be able to sit down at and operate a computer, stand, walk to different locations of the hotel, will be required to life at least 10 pounds, will occasionally life 50 pounds at one time.  Should have good vision or corrected vision.

Accounting Clerk will have a cubical, desk, computer, phone.  About 95% office setting.  Reasonable accommodations will be provided to help perform demands of the job.


Qualifications and Desirables


A high school diploma with mathematical emphasis. Experience in a hotel or related field preferred; or College degree a PLUS.



High School Diploma – College a+

Accounts Receivable and Credit background.

Computer literate:  Current version of Windows, Excel or Quattro Pro (Spread Sheets), WordPerfect or Microsoft Word.  Hotel Information Systems.

Ability to read, write analyze, speak, and interpret English.



Accounting background a Must, including basic math skills



Must be alert and quick at reasoning.  Ability to interpret instructions and guidelines set by the hotel’s policy and procedures.
